Volunteering at Reso
Being a Burner means actively contributing—attendance alone isn’t enough. Volunteering is the norm, not the exception.
Supporting your theme camp or art project? Rad! But it’s not the same as volunteering for the event itself. All ticket holders are generally expected to sign up for at least one shift—it’s how we keep the magic alive. (And no, “being a vibe” doesn’t count. Nice try.)
- There are more volunteer shifts than attendees; everyone is generally expected to participate in an event-wide role.
- Some roles are particularly great for newbies, those with heat sensitivities and those with mobility limitations. Each role is tagged below where these apply!
- Past taking up an event wide volunteer shift, a camp’s sustainability relies on all members sharing a portion of the camp duties (e.g., setup, cleanup, safety).
Required? Technically, no. Strongly encouraged? Absolutely. Will we silently judge you if you skip out? Let the following gif speak for itself:
🧠 - HQ - 🧠
**Great for Newbies!**
**Low-Mobility Friendly**
**Heat Sensitivity-Friendly**
The headquarters volunteer position is brand new and we will be learning as we go in some ways! The volunteer will be in charge of manning a centrally located information booth to help inside the event!
All volunteers will be trained at the beginning of shift by the lead and have a handbook available with procedures. Both positions will have a radio available to contact leads and are primarily seated and disability accommodating!
📖 - EDUCATION - 📖
**Great for newbies!**
As a part of Education you will help set expectations and help guide new and experienced burners through what they should know about our burning community! As an education volunteer you will be one of the first burner people see when they arrive! Help start the weekend on the right foot by communicating our values and setting people up for the experience ahead. An excellent position for new burners especially when paired with a more veteran person!
🚧 - DOOZERS - 🚧
**Great for newbies!**
**Early entry available**
Doozers do things! Join the on-site crew that helps build our infrastructure tents, fixes things, and generally goes around being helpful. If you’re handy and like to help, this is the job for you.
👮🏻♀️ - RANGER - 👮🏻♀️
Rangers uphold the principles of the community and assist participants in recalling their commitments to one another by ensuring adherence to its standards. They collaborate with all participants, as well as with emergency services and law enforcement agencies when necessary, to promote a positive and constructive experience.
Rangers employ non-confrontational communication methods whenever feasible to foster cooperation and to contribute to a secure environment. In instances where de-escalation is necessary, they utilize conflict mediation techniques rather than physical intervention.
Ranger volunteers are encouraged to attend Safety, How-to, And Response Training (SHART) prior to Reso.
🩺 - MEDIC - 🚨
As a Volunteer Medic at the Reso Burn, you will provide simple first aid, quickly helping anyone who needs medical assistance or is feeling unwell. Your presence and skills help ensure that everyone gets the care they need when they’re vulnerable. If any major medical events occur, Medics Volunteers are not expected to handle it! Instead, these are escalated to a Medic Lead or Reso Welfare D.O.M.
Along with supporting self-expression and independence, you’ll also teach participants how to take care of themselves and each other. This includes advice on drinking enough water, protecting themselves from the sun, and spotting signs of heat exhaustion or other common problems.
It’s important for Medic Volunteers to stay calm, communicate clearly, and show kindness and professionalism. You help protect everyone’s well-being so they can fully enjoy the experience of the Burn. Medic Volunteers are encouraged to attend Safety, How-to, And Response Training (SHART) prior to Reso.
🌍 - EARTH GUARDIANS - 🌍
**Great for Newbies!**
As an Earth Guardian, your tasks may include: Manning the Lost & Found station – helping community members reunite with lost items or accepting found belongings for safekeeping. Walking the grounds – educating others on Leave No Trace values while picking up any stray MOOP (Matter Out of Place) along the way. Porta-potty patrol – restocking toilet paper and ensuring cleanliness so that everyone has a comfortable and respectful experience.
Earth Guardians are the unsung heroes of a clean, respectful, and sustainable burn. Join this crew and help preserve the magic of the land we gather on!
🚗 - PARKING - 🚗
**Great for Newbies**
Are you good at tetris and telling people what to do? We’ve got a job for you!
Parking volunteers help ensure cars get parked in a semi-orderly fashion so we can make good use of the space and keep things running smoothly.
When traffic is slow, hang out with the cool kids at Gate.
💪🏻 - SCOOPERS - 💪🏻
**Great for Newbies**
**Early Entry**
Reso has a lot of stuff. Tents, tables, radios, fire gear, signage…stuff. Scoopers, or vice versa. Scoopers assist Quartermaster with loading inventory from the storage unit into the truck to take to the property. Then will assist with loading inventory at the end of the event to transport back to the storage unit. Since scoopers are in property a day early, you get early entry. Come help us move stuff and enjoy an additional day of the burn!
🕊️ - SANCTUARY - 🕊️
**Low-Mobility Friendly**
**Heat Sensitivity-Friendly**
Keep calm and carry on! Sanctuary coordinates with Rangers and Medic to care for guests who may feel overwhelmed and need a quiet space to sit down and relax. Our sanctuary volunteers hold space for these individuals by being a calming and reassuring presence in a non-judgmental container.
Sanctuary volunteers are encouraged to attend Safety, How-to, And Response Training (SHART) prior to Reso.
🚪- GATE - 🚪
**Great for Newbies!**
**Low-Mobility Friendly**
Help get the party started and welcome your fellow burners home!
Gate volunteers will check IDs, cross-check ticket numbers with names, and bestow burners with shiny wristbands. You’ll also help folks get oriented with the map and figure out where to camp.
Volunteers will receive training and a short list of procedures from a lead at the start of their shift. A radio will be located at the Gate to keep in touch with leads and other volunteers.
This is a great way to get your feet wet if you are new to the burn community and an even better way to meet new friends.
If you’re interested in volunteering for Gate and being the first impression of Resonance, please review the available shifts and sign up today!
👩🏻🍳 - VOLUNTEERS KITCHEN - 👩🏻🍳
**Great for Newbies!**
Are you a foodie? Is cooking for your loved ones your love language? Do you get the warm fuzzies from watching Daddy Ramsey scream at his underlings? Yes? Well then Volunteers’ Kitchen is perfect for you!
But what if I dont have culinary experience? We have several roles that are perfect for someone with limited kitchen experience, such as Dish and Food Runner. In VK volunteers will do a variety of tasks from prepping food to cook, grilling, saute, running food to our lovely burner friends on shift, and washing dishes and setting up for the next shift! Training videos will be provided prior to the burn and a meeting to discuss food sanitation and safety will be held a week prior to the burn for all Volunteers. 🍳🔪
**Note: while all volunteers are welcome, the shift for Grill Master does require at least some experience with grilling. Let’s save safety third for OUTSIDE the kitchen! 🔥🧯
